Description

Archaeological evidence shows the deposit was already worked by the Romans. Since the 18th century there was mining industry in Lüderich.
From 1853 to 1978, zinc and lead ore were extracted interrupted in Lüderich.

Sphalerite on limestone Lüderich. Lüderich a former Vieille Montagne zinc mine.

Beautifully shaped amber-coloured “Honigblende”, sphalerite with low contents of Iron from one of the best German localities for "Zinkblende"
