MSH is the type and only known locality for monteregianite-(Y). It is moderately rare here. This specimen features small, but very beautiful, sprays of unusually gemmy monteregianite-(Y) from an igneous breccia. Found May 24th 1997.

FOV in the first two pairs of photos is 2.4 x 3.35 mm. The longest crystals are ca 1.5 mm. The crystals fluoresce the typical bright green of monteregianite-(Y). These two pairs of photos are just different attempts to capture the unusual “gemmy-ness” of the crystals. The point of view is much the same in both pairs, but the second pair has been rotated by 90 degrees. 

The third pair of photos (FOC 4.3 x 6.3 mm) is a more inclusive view at half the magnification of the other photos. The red/brown stuff is just an amorphous coating on albite.

In the full-view photo, the monteregianite-(Y) is in the upper left corner. It fluoresces bright green. 

Single item shipping weight (with TN case) is 3.5 oz (99g). For shipments outside the USA, up to a total weight < 8 oz (225g), this can be combined with other items from this or other auctions for the same postage. If you don’t need the TN case, you can save about 0.3 oz in weight which could be used for something else.

Within the USA, postage for total weights up to 13 oz ranges from $4.25 to $6.50 (including packing etc) regardless of destination. Above 13 oz, I will use “own box” Priority Mail. The rate, including packing, varies by destination from $7.25 to $9.50.
