This specimen features numerous small crystals of very pale green grossular on colorless diopside from the classic Belvidere Mountain (“Eden Mills”) locality. The grossular crystals are sharply formed, transparent, and show zoning or phantom growth. They are quite attractive under a scope, but you will need 10-15X to view them.

Some of the grossular crystals are shown in the four close-up photos (FOV 5.6 x 3.0 mm, 6.4 x 4.0 mm, 5.4 x 4.3 mm, 4.5 x 5.8 mm resp.) The largest grossular crystal (2.2 mm) is shown in the second photo. The fourth photo shows a pyrite aggregate 2.9 mm wide on the bottom and a rounded diopside crystal of the same size at top. The grossular crystal in the center is about 1.5 mm in diameter.

The diopside crystals can be seen in the full-view photo, but they are rather corroded.
