0.3 × 0.3 × 0.3 cm
Description

Please note the size! This is a very small specimen. But it has a very unusual well-formed colorless/white petarasite xl. Usually petarasite is pink to purple-red or yellow-orange. Of course, the small size of the xl (1.3 mm wide in the first photo) probably has a lot to do with the lack of color in this case. The xl is from the well known find of yellow petarasite made by Ron Waddell in 1980. While the size (but not the habit) of this xl is comparable to that of the pink xls found in 1996/7, most xls from the 1980 find were much larger. Small but interesting. Petarasite is a very rare mineral and the lack of color is unique in my experience.

The matrix is a bit of the fizzy, grainy, carbonate (probably calcite or dawsonite) with purple fluorite blebs that is typical of the 1980 find (which of course had many other associated minerals on larger samples).

Weight 0.2 oz (including MM case). Single item shipping weight 2.2 oz. Up to 4 oz, this can be combined with other items for the same postage. Alternatively, outside the USA, this could be sent in a padded envelope for $7.

Seller's terms and conditions

In addition to the standard terms and conditions, please note the following. Almost all IDs are visual. While in most cases the ID is obvious, there may be cases where it is not. If you are doubtful about a particular ID, please ask for more information. Or do not bid! Similarly, if you are not sure that the specimen meets your criteria, do not bid. I have tdone the best I can with the photos. Nevertheless, if you are not happy with a specimen for any reason, I will refund the bid price – but not the shipping costs (unless the fault is clearly mine) – if the specimen is returned. This policy applies even if analysis of the specimen shows that my ID was incorrect. When in doubt, ask - or don’t bid. Note that most crystals at MSH and Varennes are micros - even if on large specimens. Please pay attention to the stated sizes. Any customs duties, fees etc. are the responsibility of the buyer.
