Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire, Québec, Canada
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
2 × 8 × 3.5 cm
Description

Beautiful (but hard to photopgraph), very pale blue, lustrous, prisms (top) and tablets (bottom) of leucosphenite (to about 2 mm) with aegirine. FOV in the first cose-up photo is 4.0 x 4.8 mm. You will need 10-20X to view these xls. In the photo, the aegirine needles may seem like a distraction. But viewed through a stereo scope, they just add interest. If desired, the large aegirine prism at top could be broken off. But there is really no need to do that. The second photo is a macro view of the same group.

The third photo shows a colorless xl 1.6 mm tall, normal on the left, but partly cavernous and very “crenulated” on the right. Two perfect lath like small xls are at top left. Most of the vinogradovite sprays are shown in the fourth photo. There are several, but they are all very small. The brightly lit one near center spans a bit < 1 mm. You will need 20-40X to view it.

Weight 1.6 oz. Single item shipping weight 3.8 oz. Actual postage according to total weight of items.

Seller's terms and conditions

In addition to the standard terms and conditions, please note the following. Almost all IDs are visual. While in most cases the ID is obvious, there may be cases where it is not. If you are doubtful about a particular ID, please ask for more information. Or do not bid! Similarly, if you are not sure that the specimen meets your criteria, do not bid. I have tdone the best I can with the photos. Nevertheless, if you are not happy with a specimen for any reason, I will refund the bid price – but not the shipping costs (unless the fault is clearly mine) – if the specimen is returned. This policy applies even if analysis of the specimen shows that my ID was incorrect. When in doubt, ask - or don’t bid. Note that most crystals at MSH and Varennes are micros - even if on large specimens. Please pay attention to the stated sizes. Any customs duties, fees etc. are the responsibility of the buyer.
