Description

This is a micro. The “eudialyte” pseudo-octahedra are <= 0.6 mm on edge. You will need 15-30X to see them clearly. But under the scope, they are very pretty. The hand held color is bright pink. The color in the last three micro close-up photos is somewhat too saturated because my camera sensor loves red and because the snow-white pectolite tricked the auto-exposure into underexposing the eudialyte. The color in the first close-up photo and the macro photo is more accurate. FOV in the close-up photos is, resp., 3.3 x 2.1, 2.4 x 3.7 mm, 5.8 x 4.4 mm and 6.7 x 4.1 mm. The label claims makatite rather than pectolite, and it is easy to see why. But igneous breccia is the wrong environment for makatite, whereas this type of pectolite is common there. In any case, the UV responses of pectolite and makatite are very different. Note: These crystals look similar to verified manganoeudialyte. But it is impossible to visually distinguish the various eudialyte group members at MSH. In general, even semi-quantitative EDS does not suffice. Many xls are zoned. At a minimum, WDS is required – expensive! In any case, I don’t think that manganoeudialyte has been reported from breccia. You’re on your own if you want to go beyond “eudialyte group”. Weight (including TN box) 0.7 oz. Single item shipping weight 2.7 oz. Up to 4 oz, this can be combined with other items for the same postage.

Seller's terms and conditions

In addition to the standard terms and conditions, please note the following. Almost all IDs are visual. While in most cases the ID is obvious, there may be cases where it is not. If you are doubtful about a particular ID, please ask for more information. Or do not bid! Similarly, if you are not sure that the specimen meets your criteria, do not bid. I have tdone the best I can with the photos. Nevertheless, if you are not happy with a specimen for any reason, I will refund the bid price – but not the shipping costs (unless the fault is clearly mine) – if the specimen is returned. This policy applies even if analysis of the specimen shows that my ID was incorrect. When in doubt, ask - or don’t bid. Note that most crystals at MSH and Varennes are micros - even if on large specimens. Please pay attention to the stated sizes. Any customs duties, fees etc. are the responsibility of the buyer.
