Description

The first close-up photo (FOV 2.7 x 1.8 mm) shows two relatively isolated xls of thomasclarkite-(Y). The xl on the left is ~ 1 mm overall; the brightly lit face ~ ¾ mm. The second close-up (FOV 2,3 x 1.4 mm) shows a number of smaller xls, the two near the center each being roughly ½ mm wide. There are several other xls on the specimen, and they are almost all sharply formed and gemmy. But most of them are jumbled together (third photo FOV 4.9 x 3.9 mm). To see individual xls clearly you will need 30X or more. The xls are somewhat elongated, which makes them look a bit like haineultite, but the environment (Poudrette pegmatite) is all wrong and, in any case, the xls exhibit strong REE absorption lines. The fourth photo shows some of the adamsite-(Y) on the specimen. This spray spans 3.4 mm. There is a bit more adamsite, especially right next to the thomasclarkite cluster. But this is not really an adamsite specimem It just comes along for the ride and it may be an opportunity to “kill two stones with one bid” (groan). In the macro photo, the thomasclargite is at top right, the adamsite at top center. There is also very minor franconite and a single small catapleiite xl. All of these sit on nearly black aegirine, several xls of which are terminated. Weight (including TN box) 0.5 oz. Single item shipping weight 2.5 oz. Up to a total weight < 4 oz, this can be combined with other items for the same postage.

Seller's terms and conditions

In addition to the standard terms and conditions, please note the following. Almost all IDs are visual. While in most cases the ID is obvious, there may be cases where it is not. If you are doubtful about a particular ID, please ask for more information. Or do not bid! Similarly, if you are not sure that the specimen meets your criteria, do not bid. I have tdone the best I can with the photos. Nevertheless, if you are not happy with a specimen for any reason, I will refund the bid price – but not the shipping costs (unless the fault is clearly mine) – if the specimen is returned. This policy applies even if analysis of the specimen shows that my ID was incorrect. When in doubt, ask - or don’t bid. Note that most crystals at MSH and Varennes are micros - even if on large specimens. Please pay attention to the stated sizes. Any customs duties, fees etc. are the responsibility of the buyer.
