A doubly terminated xl ~ 1.3 cm long. Not large for this quarry, where xls reach 3+ cm, but a decent size. Under the scope, there is some obvious damage. It is not noticeable when hand held, but it does show up in some of the macro photos. These xls are even more fragile than franklinite. For norbergite from the Franklin marble, this is actually in relatively good shape. It is also relatively sharply formed,

The xl fluoresces bright yellow. The latest consensus of Franklin experts is that that is a good indication that this is norbergite rather than chondrodite. (But the material has not been analyzed.) However, the color in the UV photo (#2) is only an approximation. My camera wants to make it look somewhat green, whereas with the naked eye I see a fairly pure yellow. The photo is a compromise between what the camera things it sees and what I think I see.

The fourth photo shows the most damaged part of the xl. It is also strongly side-lit to show a bit of translucency.

The fifth photo is the “back”. The last photo is a micro photo attempting to show that the top termination is in good shape.

Weight < 0.1 oz. Not suitable for shipping in a padded envelope. Single item (small box) shipping weight 2.1 oz. This could be combined with other items, up to a total weight < 4 oz, for the same postage.
