Description

This is a “deliberately small” sample of fluorescent wollastonite from the Sterling Mine. It’s hardly the biggest or richest from this find (probably the 340’ evel). But, with a good UV source, it’s bright enough and, at 4.1 oz, not too expensive to ship.

The UV photo was made using a time exposure (and f2.8 with ISO 800). The camera sensor sees the wollastonite response as yellow, whereas I see more of an orange. What you will actually see will depend on the intensity (and quality of filtration) of the UV source. It could be reasonably impressive – or not. The matrix is very weakly fluorescing calcite.

I have tdone the best I can with the photos. Nevertheless, if you are not happy with a specimen for any reason, I will refund the bid price – but not the shipping costs (unless the fault is clearly mine) – if the specimen is returned. This policy applies even if analysis of the specimen shows that my ID was incorrect. When in doubt, ask - or don’t bid. Note that most crystals at MSH and Varennes are micros - even if on large specimens. Please pay attention to the stated sizes. Any customs duties, fees etc. are the responsibility of the buyer.
