Description

This is a sparse example of fluorescent wollastonite. Richer examples are neither rare nor plentiful. But at 4.8 oz (135 g), the postage on this won’t be a complete killer.

The UV photo was taken using f2.8 with ISO400. With my UV source, the exposure took 30 sec. The only adjustment to the photo is a bit of digital warming filer. For whatever reason, the camera thinks that the UV response of the wollastonite is yellow, whereas my eyes saw more of an orange. So I tried to make the photo look more like what I saw. (But it still looks too yellow.) The green stuff is just willemite dust from contamination with other specimens. The puplish stuff is weakly fluorescing calcite. What you will actually see will depend on the intensity (and filter quality) of the UV source. With a good source, it will look quite bright. With my source – not so much. (But, in the UV photo, not all of the wollastonitec was illuminated by my source.)

Weight 4.8 oz. Single item shipping weight (small box) 7.0 oz. Up to 8 oz, this could be combined with another small item or two for the same postage. Above 8 oz, there may be an postage 'bump" of $6-9 for destinations outside the USA.

Within the USA, the weight is not so much of a concern- there is just a nominal increase of $0.20 for each additional ounce. Above 13 oz, I will use Priority Mail. Up to 16 oz, the “own box” Priority rate is $8.00 (including packing).

Please see my "Shipping Policy" for details.

Seller's terms and conditions

In addition to the standard terms and conditions, please note the following. Almost all IDs are visual. While in most cases the ID is obvious, there may be cases where it is not. If you are doubtful about a particular ID, please ask for more information. Or do not bid! Similarly, if you are not sure that the specimen meets your criteria, do not bid. I have tdone the best I can with the photos. Nevertheless, if you are not happy with a specimen for any reason, I will refund the bid price – but not the shipping costs (unless the fault is clearly mine) – if the specimen is returned. This policy applies even if analysis of the specimen shows that my ID was incorrect. When in doubt, ask - or don’t bid. Note that most crystals at MSH and Varennes are micros - even if on large specimens. Please pay attention to the stated sizes. Any customs duties, fees etc. are the responsibility of the buyer.
