Description

Here is a classic specimen of daylight-fluorescent fluorite from the famous Rogerley mine in the UK.

Daylight-fluorescent fluorite is highly UV-reactive, so that the color changes dramatically from sunlight alone, requiring no additional UV lamp.

In this case the pure green crystals obtain a vibrant blue especially around their edges.  With the addition of a UV lamp the entire specimen changes to an intensely bright blue, more extreme than photos can capture.

The crystals are translucent, including some very gemmy with interpenetrating twins and fascinating growth patterns on the surface.

There are also multiple matte-gray octahedral galena crystals interspersed.

A very fine display specimen and perfect representation for this locality.
