Description

Argentine (german synonym "Schieferspat", engl. "Slate Spar") is a lamellar variety of calcite with a pearly to silvery lustre. This fine old specimen features white, foliated masses of argentine with pearly luster without matrix rock.

Comes with beautiful old label and on-glued corresponding number sticker from the former collection of metallurgical plant director Dr. O. Schmidt, Bergisch-Gladbach, Germany. He deaceased 1923 or 1924, the collection (appr. 1200 specimens) was sold to the city of Bergisch-Gladbach in 1925, used as teaching resources in a secondary school then.

Bermsgrün, also Ber[g]mannsgrün, is a local centre of present-day town of Schwarzenberg, Erzgebirgskreis, Saxony, Germany.
