Description

Classic ore specimen from tsumeb consistig mainly of chalcocite plus minor chalcopyrite, bornite, quartz and galena (?).

Comes with on-glued corresponding number sticker and antique label of the Mineralien-Niederlage Freiberg / Freiberg Mining Academy Mineral Dealership. This one is hand-written by Felix Otto Edelmann, who was administrator in the period of 1920 - 1952. The label means:
'Kupferglanz (Chalcosin) mit wenig Buntkupferkies, Kupferkies, Bleiglanz und Quarz von Tsumeb bei Otavi, Südwest-Afrika' (Chalcocite with minor bornite, chalcopyrite, galena and quartz from Tsumeb near Otavi, Southwest Africa) '

'Kupferglanz' is an old german synonym for chalcocite
'Buntkupferkies' is an old german synonym for bornite.
