A beautiful and showy, miniature-sized group of smoky quartz associated with feldspar.

Tanakami-yama is a "Granite pegmatite district, mined for centuries for its feldspar for the local ceramic industry. Crystal pockets have been almost completely worked out by local mineral collectors, and many of the dumps are overgrown with forest, so not much of collector interest is left to find here."
