Description

Uncommon, deep blue tourmaline var indicolite is embedded in light brown to cream-colored, crystalline petalite from the type locality 'Utö island, Södermanland, Sweden'. First described in 1800, from the Greek "petalon" for leaf, in allusion to the perfect basal cleavage, which is apparently visible.

This is a rare specimen which comes with antique on-glued sticker. The sticker means: "Indigolith in Petalit - Utö - Schweden" (Indicolite in petalite, Utö, Sweden)
