Description

Old time strickblende from Belgium's premier locality for the species - a typical specimen of knitted galena. Meanwhile, these specimens are scarce on the markets and hard to come by.

Strictly speaking, "Strickblende" was described as a specific association of galena and sphalerite, not as a single species. It was used for specimens showing skeletal grown galena enclosed in banded, colloform sphalerite.
Since the sphalerite was way more visible than the skeletal galena, they called it "Strickblende", translated literally: "knitted sphalerite".
