Description

A large. sharp and nearly complete single wiluite crystal, well developed all around except one contact face (see pic 2), from the classic type locality, the Vilyui River Basin, Mirninsky District, Sakha Republic, Russia.

Wiluite is a rare member of the Vesuvianite Group and these crystals from Wilui were once thought to be vesuvianites, until they were determined to be a new species. From old Dr. Krantz stock, comes with copy old antique label. The label means:
"Wiluit - Linkes Ufer des Wilui - 4 km höher als die Mündung des Flusses Achtaranda"
(Left bank of the Wilui - 4 km higher than the mouth of the river Achtaranda).
