Description

A plastic box (size 6 x 7 cm) with a dozen chunks of dark brown to black thorite in matrix rock. The average specimen size is around 2 cm.

Comes with label of Gunnar Raade (born May 6, 1944) who is a geologist, mineralogist and former first curator of the mineralogical collection of the Natural History Museum of the University of Oslo. As Norwegian representative in the "Commission on New Minerals, Nomenclature and Classification" (CNMNC) of the International Mineralogical Association (IMA), he was involved in the recognition of more than 2000 new mineral species from 1982 to 2013.

Significantly radioactive due to content of U, Th and/or rare earth elements (up to appr. 30 micro Sv/h within spitting distance).
