Description

An amazing combination of banded fluorite in green and violet colors, lining a vein of lilac, "cloudy" chalcedony.

The locality belongs to the Wölsendorf flourspar mining area.
From around 1850, fluorspar, which had previously been almost worthless, was suddenly a sought-after raw material. From around 1880, "entrepreneurial fluorspar mining" began. In the 1960s it became apparent that the fluorspar deposits were slowly but surely being exhausted. The last active mine, Hermine, closed in 1987.

One side is sawn & polished.
