Description

A cornish classic: Cuprite crystals in drusy matrix from Redruth, Cornwall. Unfortunately, no more precise locality information is known as given on the label.

Originally from the former collection of metallurgical plant director Dr. O. Schmidt, Bergisch-Gladbach, Germany. He deaceased 1923 or 1924, the collection (appr. 1200 specimens) was sold to the city of Bergisch-Gladbach in 1925, used as teaching resources in a secondary school then.

Comes with a beautiful stamped old label of the K.S. (Königlich-Sächsische) Mineralien-Niederlage zu Freiberg, (Royal saxon mineral repository, Freiberg), in the hand of Wilhelm Maucher, who was Faktor in 1904-1909. A corresponding number sticker is glued on the specimen.
