Historic ore specimen consisting of masses of bornite (with intensive sky-blue iridescence) and redish-brown, dull digenite (may also be chalcocite).

Originally from Dr. O. Schmidt collection, comes with stamped, old Droop label and on-glued corresponding number sticker. Carl Adolph Droop was born August 28, 1841 in Raumthal, Langenfelde, Germany. Carl Droop was the proprietor of a mineral dealership in Dresden-Plauen, Germany, which he founded in 1889. The business went first by the name of "Sächsische Mineralien-Handlung Droop" as late as 1903, and later (perhaps after the death of the founder?) as "Mineralienhaus Droop."
'Buntkupfererz' is an old german synonym for bornite.
'Kupferglanz' may mean digenite, chalcocite (or even bournonite as well but bournonite is not listed for Butte).
