Description

A gossan matrix is covered with a lawn of white harmotome crystals up to 3 or 4 mm size. Accompanied by acicular, clear crystals (see pic 4, 5 & 8) which appear to be gypsum.
This is a very fine oldtimer harmotome specimen from the type locality "St. Andreasberg, Harz mountains, Lower Saxony, Germany". It is a historical silver mining area, mined since the 14th century; today all the mines are closed.

From old Dr. Krantz stock, comes with a beautiful, stamp-like antique label dated 19th century, plus a newer Krantz label dated to the 1960's or 70's.
