Description

Laubmannite was originally described as a rare phosphate species from the nearby Coon Creek Mine. It was discredited in 1990 - determined to be a mixture of dufrenite, kidwellite and beraunite. Laubmannite (of Moore) is a valid, but presently officially unnamed species which was originally described by Moore (1970) and later structurally characterised by Kolitsch (2004).

Here is a fine and interesting specimen featuring olive green, radiating aggregates of "laubmannite" up to 2 cm with silky luster, associated with brown balls of beraunite (?) in a vuggy goethite/limonite matrix.
