Description

A massive specimen consisting of honey-yellow baryte from Nutfield, Tandridge, Surrey, England, UK. The specimen has a crystalline aspect with nice yellow-white zoned crystals.

At Nutfield one can find a number of now-closed workings for Fuller's Earth. The beds here have been worked since medieval times and it has always been an important local industry. The clays contain occasional nodules of honey coloured barite, sometimes with associated white calcite rhombs.
From old Dr. Krantz stock, comes with on-glued antique sticker.
