Description

This specimen hosts numerous brown, sharp crystals of yttrian titanite frozen in reddish feldspar matrix. This species is also known as Keilhauite. The name is for the Norwegian geologist Prof. Baltazar Mathias Keilhau (1797-1858). First found by Weibye in 1841 and sent by him to A. Erdmann who analyzed and first described it. The same mineral was independently described as yttrotitanite by Scheerer (1844) (cit. mindat).

Rare material from norway, comes with Robert Schaffrath label and an unknown collection label. Schaffrath was a german mineral collector in the 2nd half of the 20th century - labels date appr. from 1960 to 1995.
