Description

Piece of massive white quartz, hosting gold crystals associated with acicular, striated, grey aikinite (a lead copper bismuth sulfosalt). Most of it is converted to a greenish-yellow mineral with dull luster - very likely bismutite, thus it can be seen as a pseudomorph of bismutite after aikinite. The typical striated imprints in the quartz are also visible in some areas, furthermore there is an unidentfied grey-metallic mineral present, associated with brown limonite (see pic 6 & 7). Maybe worth an analysis.

A rare classic from famous "Berezovskoe Au Deposit, Berezovskii, Ekaterinburg, Sverdlovskaya Oblast', Middle Urals, Urals Region, Russia" which is type locality for aikinite. This old material is hard to come by and there will be no further supply. Comes with a newer Krantz label.
