The leucophanite shows weak pink fluorescence under SW-UV.

Name introduced by Karsten and Klaproth (1809) for a mineral from the the syenite-pegmatite-dykes at Friedrichswärn (= Stavern), Norway, which was later shown to be identical with nepheline. However, the name was used as a variety of nepheline during the 19th century (cit. mindat).

Comes with antique, faded label in french language. The label means: "Eleolith en prisme ... avec Leucophane de Brevig" (Elaeolite as prism ... with Leucophanite from Brevik)
