Description

Locality specimen consisting of rough white fluorite and minor galena; a few small fluorite crystals are present in a little vug. The fluorite shows weak white fluorescence under SW UV.

Comes with old label. I'm quite sure that these initials "L.B." stand for Luigi Bardelli - the handwriting compared to the second one in this auction (LGM652742 Fluorite With Galena) is virtually nearly identical. It is the only one of this layout I have ever seen - maybe it is from an early phase of his collection.

Luigi Bardelli (1869-1905) was born in Milan, Italy. He became a chemist at the Superior Technical Institute of Milan. Three years after Luigi Bardelli's death in 1905 (at Ameno), his widow Ida married Giuseppe Garbari, and the Bardelli collection was incorporated into the Garbari collection. Garbari's mineral collection was finally sold to the firm of Friedrich Krantz in Bonn, Germany (likely in the 1910's or 20's) and was then dispersed to many private and institutional collections.
