Description

Edenite is a member of the edenite group inside the amphibole supergroup. Here is a cluster of greenish, parallel-grown edenite crystals with minor quartz matrix.

Comes with original hand-written label of A. A. Damour (1808-1902), a well-known french mineralogist, and on-glued corresponding number sticker, plus a second old label from an unknown collection. Damours' personal mineral collection was sold to F. Krantz (who was in charge of the Krantz mineral dealership between 1891 and 1926), probably shortly after his death.

Coming from the type locality "Edenville, Town of Warwick, Orange Co., New York, USA", it is an important historic specimen.
