Description

A single, non-terminated scapolite var wernerite crystal from Finland. I was not able to identifiy the location in mindat or elsewhere, but Wernerite from Kurilaxari, Finland is described in the old literature, e.g. "Taschenbuch für die gesamte Mineralogie mit Hinsicht auf die neuesten Entdeckungen", 22. Jahrg., Carl Caesar Ritter von Leonhard, Heidelberg 1828.

A fine historical sample which comes with original hand-written label of A. A. Damour (1808-1902), a well-known french mineralogist. His personal mineral collection was sold to F. Krantz (who was in charge of the Krantz mineral dealership between 1891 and 1926), probably shortly after his death.
