Description

A pristine, sceptered quartz crystal from classic Banská Štiavnica (Schemnitz) with lamellar inclusions in the tip. It is barely amethyst, there are some lilac phantoms inside the on-grown crystal.

Comes with beautiful old label of an unknown collection. There is a notice "Böhm, Wien" on the top, this is a hint of the origin of the specimen: Julius Böhm, one of the most important of the early Viennese mineral dealers, opened for business in 1884. Böhm died in 1925, and the business was taken over by Elias Gabriel.
The label means: "Bergcrystall - Scepter oder Phantomquarz - Schemnitz i. Ungarn" (Rock crystal - sceptre or phantom quartz - Schemitz in Hungary). The region belonged to the austro-hungarian empire until WW I and is now part of Slovakia.
