Description

Greyish green, in-grown spodumene crystals with green microcline var. amazonite and quartz from the type locality, the famous "Utö Mines, Utö island, Södermanland, Sweden".
"Triphane" is an old synonym for spodumene, referring to the mineral's characteristically threefold natural cleavages (in three directions).

Comes with original hand-written label of A. A. Damour (1808-1902), a well-known french mineralogist, and corresponding, on-glued number sticker. As usual, the last 3 digits match.
Damours personal mineral collection was sold to F. Krantz (who was in charge of the Krantz mineral dealership between 1891 and 1926), probably shortly after his death.

An important historic specimen.
