Sharp, dark purple crystals of clinochlore on matrix. Kaemmererite is the chromian variety of clinochlore which has purple instead of green color. The specimen is in very good condition regarding that chlinochlore is very soft and that the specimen dates back to mid 19th century.
The locality is a former chromium mine and extremely rare on the markets, nearly all modern kaemmererite is from turkey.

Comes with antique label of Louis Sæmann. He was born in Görlitz, Saxony, on November 11, 1821. He began as a fossil collector and worked for Adam August Krantz (1808-1872) in Berlin before opening his own competing shop in Paris in 1850. He was apparently well versed in the science of mineralogy, and wroter of various paleontological studies as well. Sæmann died in Paris, France on September 13, 1866, and his mineral business was then purchased by his old mentor, Adam Krantz in Bonn, Germany.
