Description

"Erzbergite" is named for its occurrence at the Styrian Erzberg, Styria, Austria. It is a mixture of aragonite and calcite; white to brown banded sinters, consisting of alternating thin layers of aragonite and calcite, owing their colour to finely dispersed limonite.
Here is a massive piece of white aragonite var. "erzbergite" containing these brown layers at the bottom. Note the converging layers on pic 5. There is a weak greenish SW fluorescence (white horizontal stripes on last pic).

Comes with antique label and corresponding number sticker.
Hans Jaklin was an austrian collector and mineralogist, born in 1874. He may have been a Royal Imperial "Mining academician" (k.k. Bergakademiker). His mineral collection consisted almost exclusively of specimens from Austro-Hungarian localities.
All labels are squares of brown paper rubber-stamped with his name in purple ink.
