Description

This specimen is featuring a lustrous gold leaf of 0.8 x 0.5 cm size on matrix, accompanied by some grains of tarnished bornite.

This is a fine old classic from Zmeinogorsk Mine (Snake Mountain Mine; Schlangenberg Mine), Altai Mountains, Western-Siberian Region, Russia which comes with a very beautiful old pen&ink label dated 19th century. The exact locality "Schlangenberg" and species "Electrum" was added later by pencil.
"Güldisches Silber" is an old german denotation for electrum, a gold which usually contains more than 20% silver.
