Description

Greenockite is a rare cadmium sulfide. Good and sharp crystals of this species are extremely hard to come by. The specimen features a small tabular greenockite crystal of appr. 1 mm in prismatic habit on matrix, with good, deep yellow color.

From the type locality of Bishopton, Strathclyde, Scotland, UK. The mineral is named for Charles Murray Cathcart (1783–1859), Lord Greenock.
