Description

Blue and greenish-blue crystals of vesuviane var cyprine (of Berzelius) in white quartz matrix.

The name "Cyprine" was introduced in 1820 by Jöns Jakob Berzelius for a blue, Cu-bearing variety of vesuvianite from Kleppan, Telemark, Norway. Named from Latin variant of cuprum, copper, alluding to the copper content.

Comes with old hand-written label dated 1900-1910. A rare historic sample, very probably from the locality of first description.
