Description

Massive, light violet anhydrite with some small crystals, accompanied by white dolomite crystals.

A rare and highly sought-after locality specimen from the construction period of the Simplon railway tunnel. The two one-way tubes were built in 1898–1905 und 1912–1921. Nearly 20 kms long, it was worlds longest tunnel until the end of the 1970s.
Comes with nice old label from an unknown collection.
