Richellite is a rare Ca-Fe phosphate and occurs as a secondary mineral in phosphatic sedimentary rocks. It has questionable/doubtful status according to the IMA. It is probably a former gel with variable chemical composition. This specimen is from the type locality in Belgium where it was described in 1883 and consists of brownish, amorphous material. Comes with a beautiful old A. Krantz label written 1880-1890, thus shortly after discovery. An important historic specimen.
