Description

Rubellan is a red-colored, oxidized and dehydrogenated variety of biotite. Here are tabular rubellane crystals, up to 4 cm, and black pyroxene embedded in leucite-nephelinite-lava. A good and rare eifel mountains volcanism specimen.
Comes with beautiful antique Friedrich Kohl (1839-1907) label.
Kohl founded the "Bayerisches Petrefacten und Mineralien Comptoir" (“Bavarian Fossil and Mineral Company”) at an unknown time, possibly in 1868.
Specimens were offered for sale mostly after his 1890 move to Munich.
