Description

Fragment of Sikhote-Alin iron meteorite, a coarsest octahedrite whose chemical composition is: 92,90% iron, 5,90% nickel, 0,46% P, 0,42% Co, 0,28% S, 161 ppm Ge,  52 ppm Ga, 0,03 ppm Ir

Its mineralogic composition is Kamacite, Plesite, Schreibersite, Troilite

It is the largest recorded witnessed meteorite fall in history. It fell on February 12, 1947 on the Sikhote-Alin mountains in Western Siberia north of Vladivostok and it formed approximately 4 billion years ago
