Megalo Livadi, Serifos Island, Milos, South Aegean, Greece
Class:
Massive/Crystalline
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.5 × 5.5 × 4.5 cm
Description

A rare example of aragonite from Seriphos! Those aesthetic specimens appeared a few years ago by a dealer in the Munich Show and nothing has been seen since then! This one has two generations of aragonite, one in gemmy colorless, lustrous crystals, and the older one botryoidal, of light yellow color! This free standing piece is contacted only on the bottom and it's beautiful all around! The style is so characeristic, it's difficult not to recognise it comes from this small find! The dealer stated it's an old find, but it's hard to tell, since mining on the island is forbidden.
