Description

A striking 10cm three dimensional Tsumeb specimen featuring a rare paragenesis of wulfenite and mimetite, in addition I believe that there is a pseudomorph of wulfenite after an unknown mineral present too. An isolated 3cm cast like structure is evident partially exposed at one end, the entire outer shell consist solely of butterscotch wulfenite crystals lined by mimetite within the hollow crust.

There are literally hundreds of individual wulfenite crystals visible within the complex intergrowth, many well defined blades appear to be molded together to form this tube yet often only partial blades and sometimes no more than crystal edges appear. The wulfenite is easily discernible amongst the mimetite therefore numerous crystal can be found under closer inspection.

The specimen is exceedingly heavy for its size leaving me in the belief that beneath the rich mimetite mineralization lies a hidden all wulfenite pseudomorph structure.

The mimetite are fascinating present from single prismatic crystals no more than a few millimeters to complex radiant fans consisting of a number of precisely arranged double terminated crystals, the mimetite range from clear colorless to deep yellow with dark included variants in between, but all exhibit a high gloss silvery luster.

The condition is outstanding, damage free in many zones with a small attachment related contact and bruising.
