Description

This extraordinary and rare 11cm 3-D blue spinel twin fluorite floater is from the erongo mountains, blue fluorite have been known to come out occasionally- mostly as floaters without matrix and columnar in style but none with such outstanding symmetry and complete. Best described as octahedral in form with fourteen pronounced faces and two additional pyramidal terminations on the upper face as it lies flat on its largest face. 

The crystal is twinned spinel style with a clear line of separation between the crystals exhibiting a gap of a millimeter or so visible on surface, this line extends all the way through visible on all faces. Numerous parallel natural internal cleavages create interesting color zoning featuring every imaginable hue of blue with glowing luster as light is reflected off them. The exterior surface is textured yet glassy smooth but shrouding its gemmy feature somewhat but you can still see your fingers right through the 6cm thick crystal depending on how many internal cleavages are in that specific view.

Sharp interesting crystal edges  feature typical fluorite character development that will keep you studying it for hours trying to figure out how its rare was achieved in the absence of any attachment contact and is 100% undamaged as far as I can tell.
