Description

I received a shipment of material from the DRC a few weeks ago that contained amongst other things a new find of chrysocolla pseudomorphs from the Lupoto mine. Well known for producing find after find of unique chrysocolla psuedomorphs since 2013. After cleaning the material and comparing it to my  stock from all the previous discoveries I can safely say that it is far superior in color and consistency. I have listed six specimens on this auction- one from each of the finds spanning the past four years so that you can judge for yourself.

 

An interloper variant that came out of the mine in very small numbers during late 2015 featuring a rare blocky crystal form unlike any of the previous discoveries. The difference was clear-  microvilli fingers were almost absent with a marked increase in weight- in fact the specimen is not a hollowed out cast but a solid malachite core with a metallic ring to it when tapped..

The elongated crystal structures furthermore look less like azurite tapering down significantly to the terminations. This type is similar to the new find type-A.
