Description

There has been allot of noise in recent months after the release of the “Mineralienwelt” magazines brief story on the Soltaus fluorites that were discovered some time after the middle of last year. The article contained superb images of very unique fluorite specimen that came from subsequent discoveries around the farm Hohenstein, each find revealed more fascinating colors and rare crystal habits featuring strange intergrowths. At the time I was lucky enough to secure some pieces from each find and will be making them available to you in the upcoming auctions. The latest Namibia Minerals and Localities book from Bode also features these fluorites on pages 231-233.

A one of a kind 3-D specimen that came in the lot that I bought just after the discovery was made featuring a large 10cm prismatic feldspar crystal hosts unique fluorite and schorl mineralization.

Typical purple Hohenstein accenting and rare crystal form featuring some fluorite spearheads and many modified crystals that I can not adequately describe- they are flattened in many cases and just too strange. Some hyalite opal coating is evident.

The condition is outstanding with some natural etching to the feldspar.
