Description

I sold two specimen from this find to Hans and Nina Soltau when they first came out, these are now depicted in the new Namibia Minerals & localities book on page 274 and 276. The mineralization was understood better developing further as mining went on as you can see by the features of this outstanding specimen that tells the whole story in an easy to follow sequence.

This is without a doubt the finest and largest specimen that we got from the find  best described as the most interesting fluorite that has been discovered in the orange river region.

We were there during the entire period that the pit was mined and saw around 500 pieces come out featuring various stages of mineralization, combinations that included one sometimes two and three stages of growth beginning with primary purple stepped fluorite that can be seen as the naturally etched away portions of these complex cubes where ever it was exposed void of any blue second generation covering. The blue fluorite has coated the underlying stepped cubes precisely following every contour, if you study it carefully you will see triangular purple phantoms beneath the translucent covering, additional lighting is advantageous.

The third stage yellow fluorite mineralization has not covered all blue surfaces completely revealing the initial growths beneath it.

The color contrast is attractive telling of the sequence of development with the white calc still present which played a pivotal role in the formation process.
