Description

There has been allot of noise in recent months after the release of the “Mineralienwelt” magazines brief story on the Soltaus fluorites that were discovered some time after the middle of last year.

The article contained superb images of very unique fluorite specimen that came from subsequent discoveries around the farm Hohenstein, each find revealed more fascinating colors and rare crystal habits featuring strange intergrowths.

At the time I was lucky enough to secure some pieces from each find and will be making them available to you in the upcoming auctions.

 

An aesthetic cauliflower like arrangement of lustrous fluorite crystals set on a thick feldspar crystal matrix. The difference is that the crystals including both  cubic and unique spearhead forms have developed more fully and show of their fancy purple accents strikingly since the larger well exposed colorless crystals allow maximum light penetration which makes all the difference.

Typical color for Hohenstein comparable to some shown in the above mentioned article with the green component which was the rare feature in the discovery. Internal cleavages reflect light illuminating certain crystals intensively and the marked clarity allows you to easily find the included schorl needles within the fluorite crystals.

This specimen is undamaged with an attachment related contact to the back.
