Description

A very appealing and aesthetic 3-D cerussite on smithsonite combination exhibiting unusual crystal from quite unlike its tsumeb counterparts. In 360° views you can fully appreciate the robust cerussite crystals that are a mixture of colorless and smokey included twins that are optimally positioned on top of a dome like matrix.

Attached in a mushroom like style these cerussite are elevated off the matrix and not imbedded into the surface thus many more crystals faces are exposed making the specimen even more remarkable and flashy since every face reflects light. There are also many resultant cavernous voids beneath the cerussite leading far back filled with smithsonite and dolomitecrystals. Interestingly the color varies from one side of the matrix to the other ranging from black through to tan and orange.

The last image was taken under shortwave UV lighting and reveals red fluorescence in the matrix and yellow on the surface where the dolomite is present, obviously something else is present too.

This specimen is very heavy for its size and the condition is very good with typical age related imperfections to the cerussite.
