Much has been said about this rare mineral from  the farm mesopotamie since the discovery that Manfred Lehrl made there in mid 2014. First described as opal-ct in the recent Namibia book and sold as such for exorbitant prices at the Munich show that year and later to be referred to as chalcedony with a slight christoballite tridymite content.

I was lucky to have bought what remained of the pocket after the best had been taken to munich and from what I could tell there was one or two specimens that outshone all the rest by miles featuring vastly different form compared to the greater majority that all looked like this and there weren’t more than two hundred specimens found in total-Marshall Sussman has the best specimen.

The color is incredibly eye catching as is the botryoidal morphology that effectively creates a special visual effect due to the gemmy-translucence of the chalcedony that when illuminated shows the layers through the upper surface, the contacted edges reveal the two mineralized zones clearly too.

This is a significant specimen in a undamaged condition within the peripherally contacted edges.
